Robert “Bob” G. Maxwell, 68 of Abingdon, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Care Center of Abingdon with his family at his side.
He was born October 6, 1947 in Galesburg, the son of Leroy and Dana
Bocox Maxwell. He married Jacqueline “Jackie” Hiel Williams in 1980 in
Galesburg. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2015. He was also
preceded in death by his parents and his sister and her husband, Linda
and Victor Miller.
Bob is survived by his children, Trisa (Rod) Eiker of Gilson, Patsy
(Mike Smith) Gray of Galesburg, Scott (Renee) Maxwell of Abingdon and
Corey (Terrence Smith) Maxwell of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Tyler
Eiker, Britny, Morgan and Tresten Maxwell and Colby Smith; his
step-children, Donna Williams of Chicago, Donnie (Lesley) Williams of
Seneca, and Robert Strong of Galesburg; three step-grandchildren,
Brandon Cox, Tyler and Spencer Williams and two
step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Maxwell of Galesburg.
He worked at Gates Rubber Company for 10 years. He then worked in
construction and owned and operated Maxwell General Contracting for 22
years retiring due to his health. He was a member of the Abingdon
Christian Church. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing
and woodworking.
The family would like to thank all the Care Center staff and
volunteers and OSF Hospice nurse Patty Boone for the care provided to
their father.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.
Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S. Main
St. Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate. There will be no
visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.
