Sara Avalos

Sara Avalos, 77, of Monmouth, passed away at 11:40 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2016 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.

She was born on June 14, 1939 in Tejaro, Michoacan, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco and Dolores (Leon) Medina.  Sara was raised and educated in Mexico. 

Sara married Fidencio Avalos on August 23, 1956 in Mexico, he survives.

Sara was a homemaker, she loved to raise and take care of her family.  Her faith was very important to her.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth.

Sara is survived by her Husband, Fidencio Avalos of Monmouth, her children; Carmen Avalos of Monmouth, Pablo (Elena) Avalos of Mexico, Antonio (Concepcion) Avalos of Beardstown, IL, Alfredo (Rosa) Avalos of Monmouth, Fidencio (Rosa) Avalos of Monmouth, Jorge (Gloria) Avalos of Monmouth, Gabriel (Ana) Avalos of Beardstown, Armando (Nancy) Avalos of Monmouth, and Laura Avalos of Mexico.  Also surviving are twenty three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three brothers; Benjamin Medina of Reno, NV, Jose Medina of Colorado, and Francisco Medina of Mexico City, Mexico.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Guadalupe Avalos; one son, two sisters, and one brother. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth.  Interment will be in Mexico.  Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Memorials can be made to the Sara Avalos Memorial Fund.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
