Tye Daniel Burland passed away suddenly, on Monday, September 5, 2016 in
Avon, Indiana. Tye was born June 22, 1973 in Monmouth, Illinois to Janice
Updegraff and Dan Burgland. He is survived by his parents Janice Updegraff and
Dan Burgland and his fiancé Wendy, his son, Ian Burgland, brother Cory (Beth)
Burgland, half-sister Morgan Harrell, half-brother John Harrell, and many
cousins, aunts, and uncles. Tye grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth
High School in 1991. He then attended Carl Sandburg Jr. College in Galesburg. He
moved to Indianapolis, where he married Jolie Pierce in 1998 and began his
career with Dow Agro Sciences in 1999 as a Senior Technician in Research and
Development. While there, he grew to love the science of plants growing and
tending lush plants and flowers. Other passionate interests included his Harley
Davidson motorcycle, music, and pyrotechnics. He loved to take care of his yard
and even neighbors yards at times. He was an accomplished drummer and prized his
time playing in a band. He was a member of the Midnight Rider Motorcycle Club
and spent many weekends on long distance rides and club activities. Tye was most
proud of his son Ian, and liked nothing more than watching him compete in
swimming.
