Darrell L. “Dale” Davis, 85 of Galesburg, passed away at 7:10 a.m.
Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born January 9, 1931 at the family home in Maquon, the son of Ed and Nora Prieb Davis.
Darrell is survived by a his nieces, Jean Twiss of Abingdon, Susan
Czapla of Davenport, Iowa and Nancy (Steve) Hall of Lake Bracken; his
nephews, Francis Kania of the state of Mississippi and John (Cheryl)
Stockham of the state of Oregon; several great nieces and nephews and
great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Stockham and Ina “Elaine” Jolliff.
Dale grew up in Maquon and later served in the United States Navy
during the Korean War. He retired from Admiral/Maytag in Galesburg. He
had lived in Galesburg for over 50 years. He enjoyed attending and
buying at the area auctions. He was “Mr. Fix-It” and could repair
anything. He also held a special spot in his heart for animals.
Graveside service with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
October 15, 2016 at the Maquon Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
