Frances
Viola (Van Sickle) Cox, 96, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:00AM
Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Heartland Health Care Center,
Galesburg.
She
was born on January 19, 1920 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Clifton and
Christine Sanding Van Sickle. She married Walker M. Cox in Wayland,
Missouri on June 21, 1941. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2012.
At that time they had been married for 71 years.
Frances
is survived by three sons, Steven (and Ann) Cox of Macomb, Illinois,
Courtney (and Donna) Cox of Monmouth, Illinois and Andrew (and
Connie) Cox of Galesburg; a daughter, Christine (and Joe) Russo of
Galesburg; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Besides
her husband, she was preceded by a brother and four sisters.
Frances
worked in food service with the Galesburg C.U.S.D. 205 for 10 years
retiring on November 1, 1981. She was a 1938 graduate of La Crosse
Central High School and attended the State Teachers College in La
Crosse.
She
enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Galesburg First
Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Graveside
memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2016 in
Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg with Rev. Shawn Smith
officiating. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Illinois, 640
