Richard D. Cook, 85, of Monmouth,
passed away at 4:50 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born on July 15, 1931 in
Monmouth, the son of Eldon and Gladys (McClintock) Cook. Richard was raised and educated in Monmouth
and attended Monmouth schools. He served
in the United States Navy as a Seaman during the Korean War from
1950-1954.
Richard married Emma Bowers on
February 2, 1984 in Monmouth, she survives.
Richard worked as a truck driver
for a time, he later worked in a factory, and most recently he worked as a
Security Guard at Gates Rubber in Galesburg, IL. He enjoyed working around his house and yard,
most of all he liked spending time with his family.
Surviving him is his wife Emma
Cook of Monmouth, one brother Rod (Martha) Cook of Monmouth, six sons; Randy
Cook of Galesburg, IL, Irving (Peggy) Farley of Knoxville, IL, William Farley
of Idaho, Tony (Ann) Bern of Virginia, Tom (Laura) Bern of Pennsylvania, Chris (Diane) Bern of Pennsylvania, Four
Daughters; Angela Bern of Monmouth, Connie (Jack) Monastero of Chicago, IL,
Candace Cook of South Dakota, and Karla Cook of Washington, IL. Also surviving are twenty five grandchildren
and twenty four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son, two daughters, and two grandchildren.
Graveside Services with Military
Honors will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Monmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2016
from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory,
Monmouth. Cremation rites will be
accorded following the visitation. Memorials can be made to the Richard Cook
