Carol F. McNitt

Carol F. McNitt, age 74, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 9:35 AM on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. She was born on May 31, 1942 in Doniphan, Missouri, the daughter of Russell Carter and Bonnie Bernece (Kick) Jones. Carol attended school locally and was a graduate of Biggsville High School. On November 10, 1961, she married Richard H. "Dick" McNitt in Rozetta and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2008. Carol began her employment with the Brown Lynch Scott Company in Monmouth, IL. She then worked in North Carolina and Florida in banking. Carol later worked at United Federal Savings and Loan Association in Monmouth. She lastly worked in the County Market Bakery in Monmouth from which she retired. Carol loved flowers, gardening, fishing, and traveling. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra K. Besse of Wellington, FL, one son, Michael L. (Peggy) McNitt of Kirkwood, IL, grandchildren, Shanell (Justin) Siemens, Nikki (Wesley) Bellinger, and Kaley (Chad) Eversgerd, five great-grandchildren, and one brother, Russ Jones of Oquawka, IL. Also surviving is her good friend Larry Henson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, two brothers, Ronnie Jones and Rogers Jones, and one grandson, Luke Richard McNitt.

A memorial service is planned for 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Her family will visit with friends after the service at the funeral home.
