Devin
“D.J.” Elliot Viers, Jr., 15, of Galesburg, Illinois died Saturday,
October 29, 2016 at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis,
Tennessee.
He
was born on November 28, 2000, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Devin
and Connie (Jones) Viers. He was a sophomore at Knoxville High
School.
Devin
was an honor student and a member of the Key Club at Knoxville High
School. He enjoyed Kuk Sool Won, playing video games, watching
wrestling, and listening to music. Devin loved reading, going to school,
and his two dogs, Angel and Bubbles.
Devin
is survived by his father, Devin Viers Sr. of Indianapolis, Indiana;
his mother, Connie Viers of Galesburg, Illinois; four sisters, Shannon
Jones of Galesburg, Illinois, Samantha Stinson of Galesburg, Illinois,
Alexis Viers of Rock Island, Illinois, and Sandy Viers of Moline,
Illinois; a niece, Meeka and nephew, Kadyn; maternal grandmother,
Dorothy Jones of Monmouth, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Francis and
Jesse Viers of the Quad Cities; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Jones.
Funeral
service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at
Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, Illinois. Visitation will be
held Monday, November 7, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral
home. Rev. Davis Duggins and Rev. Bill Pitman will officiate.
