Lyle Davis Brown, 79, of Alexis,
died unexpectedly at 10:23 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016 at OSF St. Francis
Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
He was born June 19, 1937 in
Smithshire, IL, the son of Paul Davis and Loma (Spence) Brown. He was raised
and educated in Biggsville, IL, and graduated from Biggsville High School in
1955.
Lyle married Sandra Sue Burk on
June 28, 1958 at the Monmouth Christian Church, she survives.
Lyle worked for more than 30
years as a truck driver for Service Transportation Lines Trucking, Rock Island,
IL, he later worked as a machine operator at Midwest Fiber in Viola, IL, for 20
years, and most recently at HyVee in Galesburg, IL, for the past 10 years. He
was a member of Alexis United Presbyterian Church and the Viola Lions Club. He
enjoyed wood working and socializing.
Lyle is survived by his wife,
Sandra Brown of Alexis, IL, his children; Marty (Betty) Brown, of Byron Center,
MI, Chris (Cynthia) Brown of Alexis, Raymond (Ginny) Brown of Viola, IL, Diane
(Steve) Nelson of Aledo, IL, and Steve (Cynthia) Brown of Great Mills, MD. Also
surviving are 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Lola
McVey of Galesburg, IL; one brother, Cecil (Patsy) Brown of Raritan, IL; and
several nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his
parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter, Montreece
Mitchell.
