Jane Ann McFall Reichel

Jane Ann McFall Reichel, 66, died at her home December 18, 2016. Born July 28, 1950 in Galesburg, she was the loving daughter of John T. and Martha L. Humphrey McFall, lover, friend, and wife to Martin Josef Reichel, whom she married June 12, 1971, and mother to her loving daughter, Paula E. Reichel.

She leaves behind her husband, Martin; daughter, Paula and Paula's husband, Justin Martucci; her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Sperlin and her husband, DeWayne Sperlin; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Hoover, Johanna Schuller, and Anneliese Schaefert; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jane graduated from Costa High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. In earlier years, she worked as a secretary for her father and husband in the family business, McFall Monument Company. She was an avid reader and Galesburg Public Library user and had belonged to the P & V Book Club. Most of all she loved other people and was a faithful friend to many.

She loved to travel and spent four years living in Germany while her husband served in the United States Air Force there, acquiring a working knowledge of German after befriending her landlady, who spoke no English. She was happiest when on the road to visit her daughter whether in Indianapolis, Ithaca, New York, or Washington D.C.

Her home that she built with her husband was designed for entertaining and she knew how to do it better than most, having an eye for detail, a penchant for organization as well as being an excellent cook. She was a long-time member of Sorosis and a former member of PEO and visited with her friends on a regular basis in various Galesburg coffee shops and restaurants.

Cremation will be accorded with later interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed by an open house in the home of Jane's sister Peggy, 414 North Academy Street, Galesburg.

Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Public Library Foundation, 40 East Simmons Street, Galesburg, IL or a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
