Donny R. Davis, 51, of
Galesburg, died at 10:22 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
He was born September 12,
1965, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the son of Roy Wade and Charlie
Davis. He married Kimberly S. Cassell on August 17, 2009 in Rock
Island, Illinois.
He is survived by his
wife, Kimberly; his father, Roy (and Jimmye) Wade of Bellwood,
Illinois; his mother, Charlie Williams of Galesburg; a daughter,
Af’Rika Davis of Tupelo, Mississippi; a son, Donny “D.J.” Davis
of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Addyson; a special niece,
Journey; a brother, Douglas Davis of Chicago; and three sisters,
Tonya Davis of Chicago, and Tametia Williams and Tisha Davis, both of
Toledo, Ohio.
Donny was raised and
educated in Clarksdale, Mississippi, graduating from high school
there in 1983. He attended South Suburban Community College. Donny
worked for Mars, Inc. for many years before becoming an engineer with
the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in 2004.
Donny was a member of W.L.
Darrow Masonic Lodge #10 in Galesburg. He was a fan of all sports
and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. Donny enjoyed barbequing and
spending time with his friends.
Donny served in the United
States Army for three years.
Visitation will be 3 to 5
p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg
Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
