Dorothy M. "Dottie" Hutchisson

Dorothy M. "Dottie" Hutchisson, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 9:40 pm on January 21, 2017 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. Dorothy was born on December 18, 1920 in Smithshire, Illinois and is the daughter of Edward D. and Marie A. Anderson Gibb. Dottie was raised in rural Warren County where she attended Maple Grove Elementary and later graduated from Kirkwood High School. She was married to Samuel J. Hutchisson on August 10, 1940 in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2007. Dottie spent most of her working life in the Retail and Fashion Business. She was employed at Brown Lynch, and Scott and Bowman Colwells, both in Monmouth, Illinois and then at Klines. She lastly owned and operated "Dotties Corner" in Monmouth for many years. She was a former member and president of the Monmouth Business Women Professionals, and also won the Businesswoman of the Year award. She is an active member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, the Home Economics Club, and Monmouth Women's Club.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma (Wayne) "Bunky" Scott of Monmouth, Illinois and her brother, R. Keith Gibb of STronghurst, Illinois. There is one grandson, Brad (Alice) Peck and great grandson, Brandt Peck, all in Salt Lake City, Utah. There are a number of nieces and nephews also surviving and one great nephew Tanner in Tampa, Florida. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Linda Hutchisson Peck, and a grandson Brent Peck. Four other brothers have preceded her in death. A funeral service will be at Faith United Presbyterian Church of Monmouth on Friday January 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Ellison Cemetery near Smithshire, Illinois. Her family plans visitation and will receive their friends at Faith United Presbyterian Church on Friday from Noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
