Rosemary J. Retter, 69, of
Galesburg, died at 11:28 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 in OSF St.
Mary Medical Center.
She was born August 22,
1947, in Galesburg, the daughter of Wanda Jean (Miller) Fitzsimmons.
She married Clarence A. Retter December 14, 1967 in Urbana.
She is survived by her
husband of nearly 50 years, Clarence; three sons, Michael Patrick
(Tina) Retter of San Antonio, Texas and Shawn Lee (Lisa) Retter and
Curtis Allen (Sara) Retter, both of Galesburg; seven grandchildren,
Marina, Tylor, Paige, Katie, Carson, McKenzie, and Elijah; three
sisters, Shirley Dietrich of Peoria, Sandra Titus of Galesburg, and
Kathy Raines of Quincy; and two brothers, Bill Shepherd of Oklahoma
and David Fitzsimmons of New York. She was preceded in death by her
mother.
Rosemary was a cook and
dietician for many years. Locally, she had worked at Seminary Manor,
Heartland Health Care Center, and retired from Perkins. She
graduated from Urbana High School in 1967 and attended beauty school.
She was of the Methodist faith. Rosemary enjoyed spending time with
her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She loved
crafting with her grandchildren and she loved animals.
Cremation will be
accorded. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 27,
2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorial service
will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating.
