Carol M. Mahoney, age 86, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 3:19 AM on
Tuesday, February, 14, 2017 at Bickford of Macomb in Macomb, Illinois. She was
born on a farm West of Larchland, Illinois on June 28, 1930, the daughter of
Chester and Maude (Kissick) Parsons. Carol married Leo Mahoney on September 9,
1950 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded
her in death on May 24, 2000. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Banker's Life
in Monmouth. Carol was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She served
the community as a volunteer with the OSF Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary.
Carol was an avid golf and bridge player at the Monmouth Country Club. She loved
to travel, visiting her daughters in Europe, golfing trips to Florida with her
husband, and even a trip to Pasadena to watch the "Fighting Illini" play in the
Rose Bowl. Carol was a fan of the Chicago Bears. She loved to read novels. Carol
is survived by five children; Steve (Judy) Mahoney of Berwick, IL, Chris (Gene)
Lozier of Kirkwood, IL, David Mahoney of Roseville, IL, Rosemary Mahoney of
Arrington, VA, and Jennifer (Kent) Armstrong of Monmouth, IL, seven
grandchildren; Dustin Tippett of Jesup, IA, Liza (Ben) Edwards of Kansas City,
MO, Matt (Brianne) Mahoney of Berwick, IL, Katie Mahoney of Roseville, IL, Abby
Lozier of Davenport, IA, Megan Mahoney of Silvis, IL, and Sam (Erin) Lozier of
Fredericksburg, VA, eight great-grandchildren; Owen Tippett, Leo Mahoney, Carter
Edwards, Lilly Mahoney, Ella Edwards, Liza Mahoney, Willa Claire Lozier, Quinn
Edwards, five sisters; Lila (Gene) Taylor, Blanche Holmes, Alice (Jerry)
Hollingsworth, Frannie McCormick, and Linda Walker, and one brother, Harold
(Judy) Parsons, and her special brother-in-law, Leland Rodgers of Roseville, IL.
Several nieces and nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, three brothers; Norman, Charles, and Raymond Parsons, and
two sisters, Susan McGann and Evelyn Rodgers.
A Mass of the Christian Burial is planned for 10:00 AM on Friday, February
17, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, Illinois. The Rosary will
be recited at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in
Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will follow the Rosary until 7:00 PM. Interment
will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Monmouth. A memorial fund is being
established for Warren County Farm Bureau Agricultural Scholarship Fund. For
