Donna E. Ollig, 77, of Monmouth, formerly of Galesburg, IL,
passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Legacy Estates in Monmouth.
She was born on December 5, 1939 in Van Buren County, IA,
the daughter of Orville and Elizabeth Augusta (Radestock) Chaney. Donna was raised and educated in Galesburg
and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957.
Donna married Hubert L. Ollig on December 22, 1973 in
Galesburg; he preceded her in death on April 8, 1998.
Donna worked as a bank teller at the Bank of Galesburg for 7
years. She later worked as a bookkeeper
at Alexander Lumber’s District Office in Galesburg for several years before
retiring in 2000. She was a member of
the Credit Woman’s Club in Galesburg, the Woman’s Bowling League at Northgate
for 25 years, and the Galesburg United Presbyterian Church. Donna enjoyed being social, visiting with her
family and friends, watching old western movies, going fishing, and watching
the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving Donna is her daughter, Lee Ann (Tracey) Vollbracht
of Alexis, IL, five grandchildren; Travis Simpson of Galesburg, IL, Elizabeth
Simpson of Urbana, IL, Emily Hull of Alexis, IL, Jessica (Justin) Taylor of
Kirkwood, IL, Miranda Vollbracht of Alexis, IL, four great grandchildren;
Zachary, Brooke, Ethan, and Brody. Also
surviving is one brother, Robert (Lucy) Chaney of Hinckley, IL, and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four
brothers, three sisters, and dear companion “NaNa”.
Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10,
2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg, IL.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at McGuire
& Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials can be made to the Donna Ollig
