Elnora Tucker

Elnora Tucker age 96 of Galesburg, Ill. died Wednesday February 22, 2017 at 8:35 a.m. at her home.

She was born January 13, 1921 in Smithshire Ill. the daughter of William and Maude Lewis Widener. She married Rudolph L. Tucker in 1940 in Missouri. He preceded her in death February 2, 1969.

Elnora is survived by one son Bruce Tucker of Galesburg, Ill., one sister Jane Lamb of Morrison, Ill., six grandchildren Erik (Rick) Tucker, Christine and (John Taylor) Miller, Rudy Tucker, Shane and (April) Tucker, Stacia and (Mike) Miller, and Lisa Tucker, fourteen great grandchildren Matthew Miller, Brittany Miller, Hannah Tucker, Gabby Tucker, Bailey Tucker, Luke Tucker, Blake Tucker, Brooklynn Miller, Joe Tucker, Breeanna Tucker, Austin Miller, Madison Miller, Laura Tucker, and Jessie Tucker, and one great great grandson Kaiden Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two son’s William and (Connie) Tucker, and Gary Tucker, three sister’s Vivian Widener, Mary Gossett, and Eula Zauke, nine brothers William Widener, Robert Widener, Jack Widener, Lewis Widener, Richard Widener, Spurgeon Widener, James Widener, and George Widener, and infant twin granddaughter Tina and Gina Tucker.

She lived and worked on their farm, delivered milk, drove a school bus and was an assistant teacher when needed. She worked at the driver’s license bureau. She also was a beautician owning and operating her own shop for many years. She went back to school and became a nurse. She then worked at Cottage Hospital, the State Research Hospital, and then transferred to Decatur, Ill. where she later retired. Elnora helped as a Sunday school teacher. Also for many years her husband and her had several rental properties they owned and managed.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday February 26, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday February 27, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery Oquawka, Ill. Memorial may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
