Richard C. "Rick" Link

Richard C. "Rick" Link, age 82, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 2:10 AM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his residence in Oquawka. He was born on June 14, 1934 in Oquawka, Illinois, the son of Ralph L. and Sadie C. (Seymour) Link. Rick attended school in Oquawka and then proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Rick served three years in Puerto Rico, and also received his GED. On September 14, 1956, he married Carolyn E. Williams in Malden, MO, and they have celebrated sixty years together. Rick began employment at Anderson Air Activities in Malden, MO, working with flight simulators and teaching student pilots flight instrument flying. He later worked at Champion Spark Plug for twenty-eight years as a machine operator. Rick also enjoyed farming; beans, corn, and raising watermelon. He enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets, and yard sales. Rick was a member of Marion Fletcher Post #136 American Legion in Monmouth. Rick is survived by his wife of sixty years, Carolyn, five children; Susan Meadows of Cape Canaveral, FL, Richard Link, Jr. of Oquawka, IL, Debra (Matt) Godsil of Moline, IL, Theresa (Buck) Myers of Oquawka, IL, and Michael Link of Oquawka, IL, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruth Ann (Marion) Husband, and one brother, Raymond (Roshena) Link both of Oquawka, IL. A number of other relatives are also surviving. He is preceded in death by parents, five sisters, and five brothers.
A graveside service and military presentation of the flag is planned for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, Illinois. Rick's family plans to receive friends at a visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka.
