He was born February 26, 1945, in Galesburg, the son of Jewel Ned Witherbee Sr. and Marian E. Way Witherbee.
He married Sharon Delawder on July 25, 1965. They had three sons, Jason Charles, Eric Todd, and Michael David.
He
is survived by his mother, Marian of Galesburg; two sons, Jason and
Eric; his wife, Peggy Witherbee and her daughter, Susan (and Che)
Taylor; two “adopted” sons, Colin (and Elaine) Turner and Jamus (and
Karen) Turner; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles (and Irene)
Witherbee of Galesburg; a nephew, Bryan (and Shelby) Witherbee; a niece,
Jennifer Witherbee Fry; four grandnieces; one grandnephew, plus many
other honorary children, grandchildren, nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Michael.
He
graduated from Knoxville High School in 1963 and Palmer College of
Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa in 1967. He later moved to Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada, where he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a
chiropractor.
He was a member of the legion of frontiersman. He enjoyed the outdoors
and nature and was an accomplished self-taught carpenter. He was
surrounded by people who loved him. He was a kind, loving, and caring
man who was a wonderful husband, father, and friend
to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and always loved dearly.
Cremation
was accorded. Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday,
February 22, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Milton Marquith
will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial
contributions may be made to East Galesburg Community Chapel.
