Joan C. Mathers, 76, of
Galesburg, died at 2:38 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at home
surrounded by her family.
She was born July 23,
1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Ella Meacham.
She married Ronald L. Mathers in 1957 in Monmouth. He preceded her
in death April 25, 1997.
She is survived by a
daughter, Victoria L. Mathers of Galesburg; two sons, Russell L.
Mathers of Oklahoma and Edward L. Mathers of Iowa; seven
grandchildren, Ronnie (Amanda) Creek, Jennifer (Justin) Bledsoe, Ryan
(Brittany) Creek, Chris (Megan) Mathers, Bryan (Makayla) Mathers,
Ronnie Mathers, and Rebekah Mathers; and 11 great grandchildren. In
addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Calvin
L. Mathers; a grandson, Shawn Creek; a son-in-law, Calvin Line; three
sisters; and a brother.
Joan worked at Maytag
Corporation for 34 years before retiring. She graduated from
Monmouth High School.
Joan was devoted to her
family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were
her life. She would always do for them before doing for herself.
She was loved very much by them.
Cremation will be
accorded. A visitation to celebrate her life will be 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg
Chapel. Burial will be later in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial
