Lela I. Camp
age 92 of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Bushnell, Illinois passed away at 4:00
P.M. Wednesday February 8, 2017 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, IL. Lela was born on May 14, 1924 in Canton, IL
to Martin and Cora (Baker) Salisbury.
She grew up and attended school in Canton, IL. She married Bernard Camp on January 18, 1941
in Canton, IL and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2006. Lela is survived by two daughters Judy
(Keith) Rogers of Avon, IL, and Shirley Camp of Good Hope, IL, and two sons
Rick (Tammy) Camp of Roseville, IL and Bob (Debbie) Camp of Elkader, IA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren
and 11 (soon to be 12) great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Wanita
Salisbury and Hazel Groutage and two brothers John Salisbury and Wayne
Salisbury and one great-grandson, Gavin Camp.
Lela was a
homemaker who supported her children in school and 4-H activities. She assisted with the hot lunch program at
the Checkrow School where her children attended. She also was one of three
Checkrow mothers who organized and led the first 4-H club for girls in that
area. She enjoyed traveling with her
husband, singing, baking, and taking care of her family. She was a member of Checkrow Community
Church.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday February 13, 2017 at the
Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. Sunday at the Funeral Home where
friends may call after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday.
Burial will be in the Bushnell Cemetery.
