Mark H. Mettler

Mark H. Mettler, 55, of Kirkwood, IL passed away at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home.

He was born January 14, 1962 in Monmouth, IL the son of Joseph E. and Helen V. (Yager) Mettler.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1980.

Mark married Laura Mullen on May 7, 1998 in Monmouth and she survives.

Mark was a Supervisor in the Belly Pump and Hanging areas at Smithfield foods for 26 years.

He loved spending time with his grandkids and his family. He enjoyed camping and fishing.  Mark was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  The family requests that the day of Mark’s funeral be Cubbie Shirt Day in honor of Mark, please wear Cubbie Shirts or colors.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Mettler of Kirkwood; 3 sons, Tyson (Jessica) Mettler of Las Vegas, NV, Shane (Kendra) Mettler of Colchester and Dakota Mettler of Kirkwood; 3 daughters, Michelle (Mickey) Leonard, Stephanie (Roger Teel) Cunningham and Courtney (Tommy) Miller all of Monmouth; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Rex (Debbie) Mettler  and Chris Kidd both of Monmouth; 3 sisters, Cindy Mettler of Monmouth, April (Dean) Nickols of Oquawka and Helen (Doug) Myers of TX; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Bev, Peggy and Sandy; 3 brothers, Butch, Danny and Terry.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment will be in Ellison Cemetery, Smithshire, IL.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to the Mark Mettler Memorial Fund.  For more information please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
