Melvin L. Lambert

Melvin L. Lambert, age 62, of Altona, Illinois died at 8:02 A.M. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at this home in Altona, Illinois.

Melvin was born on November 27, 1954 in Beardstown, Illinois the son of Harry L. and June Elizabeth Knight Lambert. He attended and graduated from Avon High School in 1972. He married Doris E. Wigant on July 21, 1984 at the United Methodist Church in Altona, Illinois.

Surviving is his wife, Doris Lambert of Altona, Illinois; his daughters: Amanda (Ernie) Bishop of Rockport, Illinois, Christi (Eric) Harbin of Beardstown, Illinois and Chelsey Lambert of Galva, Illinois; one son, Jamie Lambert of Kewanee, Illinois; his grandchildren: Ashly (Mike) McGlasson, Rachel and Dakota Bishop, Lexi and Laci Harbin, April and Blake Lambert, and Jurnie Lambert; one great grandson, Killian McGlasson. His siblings: Harry (Marylin) Lambert of Knoxville, Illinois, Dale (Judy) Lambert of Dahinda, Illinois, Mary (Gary) Jones of Dresden, Tennessee, Lyle (Dorothy) Lambert of Montpelier Indiana, Indiana, Rod (Carol) Lambert of Knoxville, Illinois, Carol (Larry) Stegall of Huntington, Tennessee, Raylene (Scott) Palm of Galva, Illinois, Ronnie (Tracy) Lambert of Galesburg, Illinois; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon Schisler.

He was an avid CUBS fan, he enjoyed mushrooming, playing horseshoes and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Oneida, Illinois the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating with military rites conducted by Ekstedt-Hurr American Legion Post #390. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Oneida, Illinois. Burial of the urn will be private.
