S.C. Lindo


Dr. S.C. Lindo, age 87, of Biggsville, Illinois; passed away surrounded by his family at 6:15 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1929 in Pililla, in the Philippines. He was the eldest son of Silvino M. and Concepcion (Cervantes) Lindo. Silvino Jr. spent most of his childhood in Manila. He attended local schools and graduated from Manila Central Medical School. Dr. Lindo served his medical internship at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. On October 17, 1959, he married Janet Gibb in Biggsville, Illinois. After finishing his internship in Peoria, he went to The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio for three years. S.C. then served a year at the Galesburg Research Hospital in Galesburg, before starting his practice in Biggsville as a general practitioner. Dr. Lindo served the people in Henderson County from 1963 until his retirement in 2006. During those 43 years, he had taken care of countless families and friends. Benny, as known by his wife, made his home in Biggsville, where they enjoyed taking care of their house and fruitful gardens. Along with gardening, Dr. Lindo very much enjoyed friendly competitions in both bowling and golf. Silvino was a long time member, Elder, and Deacon of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church and was also a charter member of the former Hend-Co Hills Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Janet of Biggsville, their two daughters, Lori (Jay) Harms of Peoria, IL; and Susan (Jim) Foster of Varna, IL. Three sons: Brian (Cheryl) Lindo of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mike Lindo of Biggsville, and Brad (Mariceil) Lindo of East Peoria, IL. There are ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving. He has one sister, Ruth Bodeta of Queens, N.Y. and three brothers, Rogelio (Nelly) Lindo and Jonathan (Norma) Lindo both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Arturo (Julie) Lindo of the Philippines. Dr. Lindo was preceded in death by his mother and father along with Three brothers: Eugene and his wife Violeta, Ben and his wife Betty, and Serafin. Also preceding him in death was one brother in law, Al Bodeta.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church in Biggsville. His family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 also at the Church. Interment will be in the Biggsville Township Cemetery. Memorial funds are being established for the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church, The Biggsville Amblulance Service, and S.C. Lindo Baseball Field in Biggsville.
