Carrol L. Watkins

Carrol L. Watkins, 86 of rural London Mills, passed away at 3:53 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Courtyard Estates in Farmington. 
  She was born on October 8, 1930, the daughter of Jerauld and Marguerite Caulkins Ray.  She married Duane E. “Dewey” Watkins on November 11, 1949 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on June 23, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn brother and one sister.
  Carrol is survived by four daughters, Jeralyn (and Louis) Ohler of Oquawka, Linda (and Scot) Hulet of Abingdon, Nancy (and Bob) Kidwell of London Mills and Jill (and Stu) Barden of Peoria; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
  She graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Brown’s Business College where she met the love of her life, Duane.  She worked as a secretary at the London Mills Grade School.  She also worked at the Admiral Factory and Wagoner Printing in Galesburg, retiring at the age of 65.  She was an avid Cubs fan.  She loved attending all of her grandchildren activities and events.
  Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.  Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Abingdon Cemetery with Dr. Don M. Miller officiating.    
  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
