Jack
L. Foster, 86, of Oneida, died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017
at home surrounded by his family.
He
was born April 20, 1930 at his family home in Oneida, the son of
Clyde M. and Rosella L. Wilkins Foster. He married Della Jean Devlin
on October 30, 1950 in Burlington, IA. She survives. He is also
survived by one son, Danny (Dennise) Foster of Alexis; two daughters,
Lori (Bob) Davis of Kirkwood and Marty (Tedd) DeBonis of Columbus,
IN; his little buddy, Sophie; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Colt
Foster, Sommer Munson, Jamie Dillbeck, Ryan Dillbeck, Colby Davis,
Molly Cassidy, Mariah DeBonis, and Macey DeBonis; eleven great
grandchildren; and four step grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents; three brothers, Jim, Keith “Tiny”, and Richard
“Cap” Foster; one sister, Mary Lou Matherly; two sisters-in-law,
Shirley Foster and Donna Foster; and two nephews, Larry Keith Foster
and John Benedict.
Jack
graduated from Oneida High School in 1948. He was employed by Maytag
for 41 years, retiring in 1996 and also worked as a butcher for
Olson’s Locker in Altona for many years.
He
coached little league and bowled for many years. He also enjoyed
throwing horseshoes. His passion was trapshooting. He received many
awards and trophies, including fifth place at the Grand American
Shoot in Vandalia, OH in 1958. Jack enjoyed following his
grandchildren at their sporting events and had fun playing cards with
all of them. Jack will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation
will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Watson-Thomas
Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with a memorial service
following at 2:30 p.m. Pastor David Pyell will officiate. In lieu
of flowers, memorials may be made to Oneida Fire Protection District,
Harbor Lights Hospice, Knox County Humane Society, or to the Altona
Food Pantry. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow the
services at the Oneida Fire Station. Online condolences may be sent
