Edward M. Champ, age 68, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 P.M. on
Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Ed was
born on March 30, 1949 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Nettie
(Hamilton) Champ. He attended schools in Canton, Illinois, and graduated from
Canton High School. On April 22, 1972, he married Carol Smith and she is
surviving. Ed began work at Newt's Gas for Less in Lewistown, Illinois and
worked there for almost eleven years. He then moved to Monmouth where he worked
at Jiffy's Gas Station. He lastly worked for Don Tatman Auto in Monmouth for
twenty-four years until his retirement. Ed loved NASCAR and attending the "Bad
Boys Picnic" in Dallas City, Illinois with his friends. He very much enjoyed
listening to country music, especially George Jones. Ed is survived by his wife
Carol of Monmouth, IL, two daughters; Juanita (James) Barron of Monmouth, IL and
Teresa of Canton, IL, one son Raymond (Lisa) Heine, Jr. of Dumont, IA, ten
grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his many friends
from over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service is planned for 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. His family plans to receive friends from
9:00-10:30 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation is being
accorded. A memorial fund is being established for his family. For more
