Lois
Rose Ann Pogue, 93, of Galesburg, died at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, April
19, 2017 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
Lois
was born June 25, 1923 in the family home in Rio, IL the daughter of
Harley E. and Rose V. Conrad Nelson. She married Robert M. Pogue on
October 25, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on January
2, 1987. Lois is survived by two daughters, Ginny (Roger Sears)
McLaren of Galesburg and Cindy Pogue of Arizona City, AZ; two sons,
Ted (Nadine) Pogue of Galesburg and John (Christine) Pogue of
Northfield, MN; as well as 6 grandchildren, 9 great grand children,
and 5 great great grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents,
Lois was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Dale Nelson.
Lois
first worked for Intrastate Telephone Company and later working for
Butler Mfg. She retired from the Animal Disease Lab in 1988. Lois
was a longtime active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and
its Altar and Rosary Society. She also volunteered with St. Mary’s
Auxiliary for many years. Lois was a charter member of the Elkettes.
She also loved playing bridge and reading. Another of her favorite
hobbies was visiting nursing homes and sharing her homemade baked
treats.
Visitation
will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory. The rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Funeral
Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Corpus Christi
Catholic Church. Rev. William T. Miller will officiate. Burial will
be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. In lieu of flowers the
family requests memorials be directed to a charity of the donor’s
