Darrall E. Themanson, age 91, of Lake Jackson, Texas, formerly of Monmouth,
Illinois, passed away at 12:20 AM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Lake Jackson,
Texas. He was born on September 17, 1925 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of
Arthur and Elsie (Kleinkopf) Themanson. He was raised in Monmouth and attended
the Monmouth Public Schools. After school, Darrall enlisted in the United States
Army where he proudly served his Country during World War II. He served as a
Medical Technician with the Army Medical Corps in the South West Pacific, New
Guinea, and the Philippines. After returning from the war, Darrall worked as a
baker and machine operator at Strands Bakery in Monmouth and Galesburg, and at
Eagle Bakery in Rock Island, Illinois. He was a member of the First Lutheran
Church in Monmouth. Darrall enjoyed everything about trains, aviation, and
flying and he held his pilots license for many years. He was a member of the
American Legion and E.A.A. Darrall is survived by one daughter, Christina Ann
Themanson-Bjune (Robert) of Lake Jackson, TX, two grandchildren; Stephen
(Stephanie) and Matthew (Jo-Beth) Bjune, four great-grandchildren, Sheridan,
Gabriel, Bridgette and Meredith, three sisters; Charlotte (Vernon) Marston of
Monmouth, IL, Betty Ann (Larry) Sterett of Biggsville, IL, and Martha (DuWayne)
Pople of Freeport, IL. Numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews
also are surviving. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Donald
and John, and one sister, Margaret Shaner.
Honoring Darrall's his wishes, cremation has been accorded. A memorial
service with Military Honors is planned for 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017
at Monmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations
to the charity of the donors choice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
