Dorothy M. Stormer, age 90, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:25 A.M.
on Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.
She was born on December 20, 1926 at her family home in rural Adams County,
Illinois, the daughter of John Henry and Theresa Elizabeth (Lier) Stormer.
Dorothy attended schools in the Quincy/Liberty, Illinois area. She worked for
several restaurants in the area. Dorothy also worked at Form Fit in Monmouth,
Mr. Quick as the assistant day manager, and Harding Elementary School as a lunch
lady. She retired in 2000. Dorothy liked country music, the outdoors, flowers,
and shopping. She enjoyed baking and there was never a time when cake wasn't
being enjoyed in her home. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her
great-grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by one son, Kevin Stormer of Galesburg,
IL, one granddaughter, Tamara Stormer of Galesburg, IL, three
great-grandchildren; Michael Stormer, Destini Stormer, and Zaine Trent. One
brother, Eugene Stormer is also surviving. She is preceded in death by her
parents, two brothers; Herschell Stormer and Brice "Bud" Stormer, two sisters;
Loyola Stormer-Mixer and Eva Stormer-Darnell.
A Mass of the Christian Burial is planned for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 1,
2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Her family plans visitation
from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in
Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for Dorothy's
