He
was born November 28, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to James A. and Edna
Emmanuel Harris. He married Grace E. Hardee January 10, 1981 in
Chicago, Illinois. She survives.
Also
surviving is his mother, Edna Harris of Galesburg, three step sons,
Robert (and Cheri`) Hawkins of Chicago, Illinois, Dana Hawkins of
Decatur, Illinois and Michael Hawkins of Pekin, Illinois, a step
daughter,
Valarya (and Galen) Richmond of Chicago, Illinois, a brother, Allan
(and Laqueda) Harris of Chicago, Illinois, two sisters, Stella Harris of
Chicago, Illinois and Gail Harris of Galesburg, 18 grandchildren, eight
great grandchildren and four special friends,
Dave and Christina H., Cody E. and Barbara B. all of Galesburg,
Illinois.
Kenneth
was a custodian at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago. He
also was a substance abuse counselor in Chicago. He later was a cab
driver for United Cab Company in Galesburg. He also worked
for McDonalds in Galesburg. He enjoyed the slot machines at the
riverboat casinos and loved to barbeque. Kenneth was a respected member
of the recovery community.
Cremation
will be accorded. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May
20, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Robin Faull
will officiate. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be
5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at First Church of God, 1080 Harrison St.,
