Maxine
Muehe, 94, of Galesburg, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at
Knox County Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Maxine
was born on January 29, 1923 in Lancaster, MO, the daughter of Nathan
R. and Verna B. Forsythe Gibson, Jr. She married Thomas E. Muehe on
January 7, 1957 in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on January
30, 2003. Maxine is survived by four daughters, Melinda (the late
Ed) Kempinski of Chicago, Annetta (Kevin) Chase of Galesburg, Karla
(Michael) Burress of Pekin, and Deanna (David) Ollman of Galesburg;
nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Pete
(Kathy) Gibson of Lancaster, MO. Along with her husband and parents,
Maxine was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Maxine
worked as a bookkeeper for the Galesburg Public Library for many
years. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the
Galesburg Women’s Club, Pilot Club, Carrousel and Bridge Club.
Maxine also served as a girl scout leader for many years. She was an
avid reader and an excellent seamstress.
Visitation
will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at Watson-Thomas Funeral
Home and Crematory, Galesburg with funeral services following at 11
a.m. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Burial will be in St.
Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. A celebration of life will follow at
the Thomas Legacy Center, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Harbor
