James
O. Copeland, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:16 p.m. on Monday,
May 15, 2017 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria,
Illinois.
James
was born on January 11, 1943 in Galva, Illinois the son of Earl R.
and Catherine Rose (Bell) Copeland. He attended ROVA High School and
graduated with the class of 1961. James married C. Diane Larson
(Hurst) on October 7, 1983 at the Knoxville United Methodist Church
in Knoxville, Illinois.
James
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg,
Illinois. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking.
He
is survived by his wife, Diane Copeland of Galesburg, Illinois; his
children, Mark James (Donna) Copeland of Frederic, Michigan, David A.
(Lisa) Copeland of Galesburg, Illinois, Erin (Billy) Kurasz of
Springhill, Florida and Keri Schneller of Springfield, Illinois;
three grandchildren: Alexandria, Alyssa, and Addison; one brother,
Earl (Carolyn) Copeland of Oneida, Illinois, two sisters, Marsha
(John) Tock of Leonore, Illinois and Nancy (Gerald) Underwood of
Orion, Illinois.
James
was preceded in death by his parents and one step-son, Chad Hurst.
Visitation
will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017
at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Memorial
services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the
First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois with the Rev.
Vince Rohn and Mary Runge officiating. Inurnment will be in the
Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to
the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois or the FISH
Food Pantry in Galesburg, Illinois. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in
Knoxville is in charge of arrangements. Online
