Marlene A. Guthrie, 81, of
Galesburg, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in OSF St. Francis
Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born July 6, 1935,
in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin and Thelma (Mishler)
Kottman. She married John Guthrie March 2, 1957, in Aledo, Illinois.
She is survived by four
children, Mark (and Becky) Guthrie of Port Byron, Illinois, Monica
Bell of Aledo, Jodyne (and Russell) Gall, of Orion, Illinois, and
Jeanna Guthrie of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren; six
great grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Schroll of Kokomo, Indiana.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Marlene was a register
nurse. She worked in the emergency room of St. Mary Medical Center
for 20 years and for the State of Illinois for 20 years. She retired
in July of 2001. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1953 and
Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria in 1956. She had
lived in Aledo, in Oneida for many years, then in Galesburg. Marlene
was a member of First Church of God. She was a volunteer at
Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Visitation will be
9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at First Church of God, 1080
Harrison Street Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m.
at First Church of God. Rev. Dennis McQuown and Pastor Doug Kizer
will officiate. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aledo
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to PTSD for Veterans,
First Church of God or In Touch Ministries.org.
