Wayne E. Sutter, 83, of
Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:36 am Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at
Rosewood Care Center.
He was born April 16, 1934
in Fairbury, Illinois the son of Clyde and Marie (Zimmerman) Sutter.
He married Virginia Goff on October 9, 1971 in Galesburg. She
survives.
Also surviving is his
sister-in-law, Marian (Carroll) Graves of Altona, Illinois; his
brothers-in-law, Leslie (Maxine) Goff of Woodhull, Illinois and Fred
Goff of Bushnell; niece, Carolyn (Bill) Dustin, nephew, David Graves,
Dale (Michelle) Graves, Larry (Karen) Goff, Chuck (Sally) Goff and
Doug (Sharon) Goff, cousins, Peggy (Joe) Mehrkens and Paul (Lou Ann)
Sutter and several great nieces and great nephews.
Wayne served in the US
Army from May 25. 1954 to May 25, 1956.
Wayne worked as a cable
splicer for the General Telephone Company, Intra State Telephone
Company, Centel Company, Sprint, New Windsor Telephone Company, the
Woodhull Telephone Company and the Oneida Telephone Company, retiring
in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking. He built chest, clocks and
bookcases for family members. He graduated from Fairbury High School
in 1952. He took machine drafting and architectural drafting classes
from Chicago Technical College.
Memorial Services are
scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, May 26, 2017 at Colonial Baptist
Church, with Pastor Darrell Grimm officiating. Visitation will be
from 10:00-11:00 am Friday at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 pm
Friday in the Victoria Cemetery with Military Rites by VFW
2257/Legion 285 Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the
Knox County Humane Society or to the Colonial Baptist Church. Online
