Catherine R.
Oyler, 93 of St. Augustine, passed away at 5:37 p.m. Thursday, June
22, 2017 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born
December 27, 1923 in Plainville, Illinois, the daughter of George
Herbert and Anna M. Hull House. She married Charles “Buddy”
Oyler, Jr. on January 26, 1951. He preceded her in death on March
14, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one
brother, Don House and one son, Gary Johnson.
Catherine is
survived by one daughter, Christie Oyler of St. Augustine; one son,
Dwight (Jackie) Mannon of Abingdon; one daughter-in-law, Carol
Johnson of Tremont; seven grandsons, nineteen great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Marie Anderson of St. Augustine and Phyllis Baker of
Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
She had lived in
St. Augustine since 1968 and prior to that she and her husband lived
on the farm on route 116. She worked at the Abingdon Pottery and the
Blue Bell Factory. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially
homemade bread and angel food cakes. She also enjoyed reading and
sewing.
Cremation will
be accorded. Services will be held at a later date.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Memorials may be
made to Harbor Light Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
