Alan
L. Alderman, 68, of Galesburg, died peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017
with his family by his side.
Alan
was born May 26, 1949 in Galesburg, the son of Walter E. and
Gertruded L. Graeler Alderman. He married the love of his life,
Sandra J. McCone on August 29, 1970. She survives of Galesburg.
Alan is also survived by one daughter, Cristie (Dan) Allbright of
Galesburg; two sons, Troy and Doug Alderman both of Galesburg; as
well as four grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kirsten, Payton, and Jackson; and
one great grandson, Kaiden. He is also survived by two sisters,
Leslie Vance of Kevil, KY, and Maria (Anthony) Roberson of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alan
received his BA in Psychology from Western Illinois University and
attended criminal justice classes. He worked as a teacher for
several years before becoming a police officer with the Galesburg
Police Department. He then worked for Burlington Northern Railroad
for several years, before going back in to law enforcement when
became a juvenile probation officer. He retired as a supervisor of
probation for the 9th
Judicial Circuit in 2002. He also worked for a time building homes
and as a police officer for CSD #205. He then retired after a few
years as a drug court officer for Knox County.
Sandra
and Alan attended Faith United Methodist Church. He had a passion
for guns. He was active in the NRA, enjoyed target shooting, and
reloading his own ammunition. Alan also enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Alan had a beautiful voice and used his talents by being involved in
the Prairie Players, Choral Dynamics, and the Community Chorus.
Cremation
rites will be accord. A celebration of life will be held at the
family home, 1069 Knox Rd 325E, Galesburg, IL from 2 to 4 p.m.
Saturday, July 1, 2017. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Online

www.watsonthomas.com. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Center of Galesburg.
