Joyce A. Lantz

Joyce A. Lantz, 79, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:51 a.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 at her home.

She was born on August 8, 1937 in Little York, IL, the daughter of William and Melba (Stewart) Hughes-Collins.  Joyce was raised and educated in Little York and graduated from Little York High School in 1955. 

Joyce married Leroy Lantz on February 14, 1956 in Little York, IL; he survives.

Joyce worked as a secretary at Gambles-Skogmo and later at Koke & Sparrow TV, both in Monmouth.  She later worked at the Lutheran Day Care in Monmouth for 20 years as a teacher’s aide. She also served as the First Ward Alderman for 6 years. Joyce loved baking cookies and making candies.  She also enjoyed going to auctions, antiquing, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.  Joyce was a member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth. 

Surviving Joyce is her husband, Leroy Lantz of Monmouth, two sons; Randy (Chris) Lantz of Monmouth, Jaime (Colleen) Lantz of Galesburg, IL, one daughter, Heidi Lantz of Monmouth, IL, three grandsons; Rawly (Joelle) Lantz, Nic (Ashlee) Lantz, Matt Lantz, one granddaughter, Shannon (Kostya) Kekhaev, six great grandchildren; Sawyer Lantz, Beckett Lantz, Jakob Kekhaev, Lily Kekhaev, Hadley Lantz, and Lukas Kekhaev.  Also surviving are her sisters; Gwen (Bob) Farm of Alexis, IL, Paula (Ed) Endicott of Monmouth, Mary (David) Lee of Monmouth, Tjodie (Ed) House of Monmouth, and Angie (Dave) Fullerton of Florida; brother in law, Gordon Todd of Monmouth; sister in law, Ramona Hughes of Monmouth, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William Hughes, Jr., and one sister, Kay Todd. 

Celebration of Life services will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Monmouth.  Cremation has been accorded.  Interment of her ashes will be in Monmouth Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
