He
was born December 2, 1949 in Ames, Iowa to Russell and Lois Cross
Kelley. He married Mary L. Woodside July 12, 1969 in Galesburg. She
survives.
Also
surviving is his mother Lois A. Kelley of Moravia, Iowa, his son,
Tellie Rodger (and Jennifer) Kelley, II of Indianapolis, Indiana, his
daughter, Melissa Mclaren of Galesburg, two brothers, Sherman (and
Judy) Kelley of Galesburg and Mark (and Vicki) Kelley of Albia, Iowa,
two sisters, Hope Allen of Ottumwa, Iowa and Judy (and David) Godby of
Moravia, Iowa and seven grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Jermaine,
McKinzey, Raven, Shawn and Daniel. He was preceded
in death by his father.
Rodger
worked at Rock-Tenn, former Alton Box Company in Galesburg for 45
years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union local #7-643
where he held numerous offices including president. He also
had a mowing service in Galesburg. He graduated from Moravia High
School, Moravia, Iowa. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in
Galesburg.
Funeral
service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will
officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
Visitation
will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the chapel.
