Doris Dean Keever, age 88, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 11:40 P.M. on
Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington,
Iowa. She was born on June 18, 1929 in Biggsville Township, Illinois, the
daughter of Arthur B. and Clara L. (Renner) Montroy. Doris was raised in that
area and attended Media High School. On January 28, 1947, she married Robert V.
Keever and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2005. She was employed at
Selby's Poultry, Lehigh Leopold in Burlington, and lastly, at Pearl Optical. She
was a homemaker. Doris was a member of the FOE Auxiliary #3629, VFW Auxiliary
#2301, and a longtime member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church. She enjoyed
gardening, flower gardening, crocheting, traveling, woodcrafts, and remodeling
houses. Doris is survived by two daughters; Patricia K. (Dean) Bundy of
Gladstone, IL and Betty J. (Earnie) Waterman of Stronghurst, IL, one son, Robert
D. (Linda) Keever of Eagle Rock, MO, one sister, Garnett Pirtle of Oquawka, IL,
two brothers, James Montroy of Monmouth, IL and Tom Montroy of McRae, AR. There
are thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren also surviving.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Beverly Jane
Langhover, and brother Chuck Montroy.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at
the Turnbull Funeral Home on Oquawka, Illinois. Her family will be present to
receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment
will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Media, Illinois. A memorial fund is being
established for the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. For more
