Marielle B. Colclasure

Mariella Bride Colclasure, age 88, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois on Sunday July 9, 2017 at 3:00 am. Mariella was born on September 29, 1928 in Alexis, Illinois, to James R. and Helen (O'Brien) Bride. As a young child, Mariella contracted and survived polio, which left her with some physical handicaps. It also left her with a great determination to accomplish many things that she had been told she would never be able to do. She started school at Science Hall School in rural Alexis, Illinois then attended Picayune School, followed by Roseville High School in Roseville, Illinois. She then attended St. Mary's Academy, a Catholic girl's high school in Nauvoo, Illinois where she graduated in 1946. Mariella married Charles A. Colclasure on October 26, 1950 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1995. She worked many years as a bookkeeper in Monmouth, first for Monmouth Hospital, then Jerden heating and Plumbing, and finally Maple City Steel. Meriella retired in 1995. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, where she proudly served as a Eucharistic minister and taught CCD classes. Following her retirement, Mariella spent many hours volunteering at the Monmouth Hospital/OSF Holy Family Auxiliary, Immaculate Conception Church and School, and calling on elderly shut-in's. Mariella is survived by her children; Tom (Yolette) Colclasure of Adelphi, MD, JC Colclasure on Monmouth, IL, Charlene (Lucian) Burt of Wheat Ridge, CO, Mark (Joni) Colclasure of Roseville, IL, her sister, Bea Gavin of Monmouth, IL, and her brother, Fred (Jane) Bride of Roseville, IL. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Alex (Micah) Fritz, Emily (Cory) Penn, Joe Colclasure, Connor Burt, and Cori Burt. Six great-grandchildren also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Charles, her brother Donald Bride, Brother-in-law Donald Gavin, and one infant son Tad.
The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will follow the Rosary. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
