Linda Collins

Linda K. Spence Collins, age 67, of Little York, Illinois; passed away at 2:08 am, on July 8, 2017 at Unity Point Trinity of Rock Island, IL. She was born on January 1, 1950, and is the daughter of Chester L. and Shirley A. Brown Spence. She was raised in Little York, IL where she attended local schools and graduated from Yorkwood High School with the class of 1968. After her schooling, she was employed at Bowman Shoe Store in Monmouth for several years. She then worked as a receptionist, for Cycle Center, in Galesburg, for a number of years. Linda also operated the Sweetwater Saloon, in Little York, IL, for a number of years before moving to Midland, Texas, where she worked as a mortgage processor until her retirement. In more recent years, Linda returned to the area to care for her mother after the death of her father. She enjoyed crocheting, and while in Midland, was involved with the Make a Wish Foundation and rodeos benefiting the local Sheriff’s Department. Linda was a hard-working woman, who did her best to help all she could. She loved watching people have a good time, and enjoyed having a good time herself. She also loved going to the beach. She will be dearly missed by all of those that knew her. She is survived by her Daughter, Tracy (Fred) Stancomb of Little York, IL and her son, Robert Collins of Port Angeles, Washington. There are two granddaughters, Charissa Collins (Robert Sargent) and Hazel Stancomb, and two grandsons, Andrew (Whitney) Collins and Logan Stancomb. There are six great grandchildren also surviving. One sister is surviving, Connie Thomas of Little York. She is preceded in her death by her parents, one sister, Trudy and one brother, Rick.
A graveside funeral service for Linda is planned at 11:00 am on Saturday July 15, 2017 at the Alexis Cemetery in Alexis, Illinois. Her family plans a visitation and will receive their friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, from 9:30 am Saturday prior to her graveside.
