William “Bill” H.
Marlow, of Altona, Illinois died 8:30 am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at
Heartland Healthcare Galesburg.
Bill was born July 3, 1931
in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of Henry W. and Ida Burt Marlow. He
married Susan Nelson Binno on December 29, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She survives.
Also surviving are two
sons, Jack Marlow of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Rick Marlow of
Rushville Illinois; two daughters, Melanie Rhinberger (and Roy Lee)
of Summum, Illinois and Vicky (and Tony) McCombs of Rushville;
brother, Ray (and Pat) Marlow of Muscatine, Iowa; a step brother,
Edwin John of Iowa; a sister, Sandra Baker, Tulsa Oklahoma;
half-sister, Sharon Helg of Geneseo, Illinois; and numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by
his parents, son, William A. Marlow. brother Skip and half-sister,
Judy Wright.
Bill was raised in Kewanee
and lived in Galva and Galesburg, before moving to Altona in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 through 1952 and was active in
the Korean War. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
Upon returning from the war, he worked as a Team Leader for the
Maytag Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Bill was a member of the
Altona United Methodist Church and was active in the Tri County
Travelers Good Sam Camping Group.
Cremation will be
accorded. No services are planned at this time.
