Ralph W. Olin

Ralph W. Olin, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died 4:35 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. 
 
He was born January 19, 1930 in Oneida, Illinois to Charles N. and Florence Malstrom Olin.  He married Agnes L. Hilst September 12, 1964 in Pekin, Illinois.  She preceded him in death June 24, 2010.
 
Surviving are two brothers, Lester Olin of Galesburg and Willis Olin (and Becky Kinzer) of Galesburg, and several nieces and nephews including a close niece, Doris I. Stewart of Pekin, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. 
 
Ralph graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948.  He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War where he received three Purple Hearts.  He was also able to attend the “Honor Flight” to Washington, D.C.  He worked for the former Outboard Marine Company, Gale Products Division in Galesburg for 35 years.  He later worked for NAEIER in Galesburg for 10 years.  He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Galesburg.  Ralph loved to work in the outdoors. 
 
Cremation will be accorded.  Graveside memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate.  Military rites will be conducted by the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
