Faith Powell, 97, of Avon, IL passed away at 2:15 AM Thursday April 2, 2015 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born February 23, 1918 in Avon, IL and was reared by her Maternal Grandparents Elijah James and Mary Elizabeth Sprinkle. She married Carter W. Powell on December 31, 1936. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2006.
She is survived by two children, Chris (Carol) Powell of Springfield, IL; Pat White of Aledo, IL; two grandchildren, Robert White and Kristin Rothlisberger both of Aledo, IL and one great-grandson Matthew Tracy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Robert W. White and one infant grandson Eric White.
Faith and Carter together owned and operated Powell's Store in Avon for 25 years. Together they also constructed over 175 custom built and designed bird houses. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed time spent crocheting afghan blankets. Faith was a graduate of Avon High School and a long time Friend of Federated Church.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday April 4, 2015 at the Avon Cemetery with Pastor Jon Prain officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Federated Church of Avon. Corman Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
