Gary N. Osborne Sr.

Gary N. Osborne Sr., 73 of Abingdon, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Abingdon Care Center in Abingdon, Illinois.
He was born on December 16, 1941 in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois, the son of Roy Ivan and Lexie Dixon Osborne.
Gary is survived by his children, Beverly Ann Osborne (Patricia K. Tracy-Osborne - mother) of Galesburg, Illinois, Gary N. Osborne Jr. (Michele Roller) (Sharon M. Johnson Osborne Swank - mother) of Abingdon, Illinois and Shelley (Trenton) Bailey (Sharon M. Johnson Osborne Swank - mother) of Abingdon, Illinois. His siblings, Dale Osborne of Carmi, Illinois, Loretta Castleberry of Carmi, Illinois, Lanita Bartley of Carmi, Illinois. Grandchildren, Matthew Osborne of Abingdon, Illinois, Zachery Osborne of Rock Island, Illinois, Colten Osborne of Abingdon, Illinois, Ashley Osborne of Michigan, Shaquon Davis of Moline, Illinois and Shamara “Moo Moo” Sargent of Galesburg, Illinois. One great-granddaughter, Kaylee Johnson of Michigan. Special thanks to a life-long friend, Mamie “Mick” West of Galesburg, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Arthur, William, Lowell and twin brother Larry Sr, two sets of twin daughters Sherry Lynn and Terry Lynn (Patricia K. Tracy-Osborne - mother), Sheryl Maxine and Sheila Marie (Sharon M. Johnson Osborne Swank - mother).
Gary worked as a bus driver for Galesburg Community Unit School District #205 and for Galesburg Transit.  He also worked for the former Admiral Manufacturing Company and Abingdon Pottery.
Gary was a lifetime member of the Midwest Western Country Music Association. He collected kerosene lamps, and enjoyed drinking coffee, music and watching wrestling. He was a guitar player, and played with bands, including the String Busters, Country Habits, Still Water, Red Boughton and Golden Rockets around the Galesburg and Carmi area.
A celebration of life will be 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2015 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. On-line condolences and sympathy cards may be sent through www.hurdhendricksfuneralhome.com.
