Marilyn Joyce Scriven, 80, of
Galesburg, was peacefully reunited with our Loving Father at 7:07 p.m.
Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Marilyn was the daughter of
Curtis B. and Faye Bernice (McCabe) Peterson; the devoted wife of nearly 60
years to her surviving spouse, Roger Lee Scriven; devoted mother of son, Mark
Scriven and daughter, Ann (Scriven) Smith; loving sister of Curtis F. Peterson
and Mary V. (Peterson) Morris; and cherished grandmother to Savanna Grace Smith;
and a number of nephews and nieces also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marilyn was raised in
Galesburg before moving to Oak Park, Illinois.
After 29 years in Oak Park, she and Roger moved to Savanna, Illinois for
17 years before moving back to Galesburg in 2007.
She graduated from Galesburg
High School in 1952 and attended the University of Colorado and Western
Illinois University. She was employed as
the secretary of the Science Department for Oak Park-River Forest High School
for 13 years, and retired in 1990.
Marilyn was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg.
She loved baking, knitting, reading, photography and she assisted the
Class of 1952 Reunion Committee with keeping photo albums and scrapbooks of
class activities.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday,
April 11, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with
Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. In lieu of
