Mr. Robert L. “Bobby”
Jackson, 47, of Galesburg died at 4:52 am Monday, April 27, 2015 in Galesburg
Cottage Hospital.
He was born September 9, 1967
in Galesburg the son of Robert and Emma Gene Spinks Jackson. He married Elizabeth
Brand in Galesburg on December 19, 1998.
Robert is survived by his
“Pops”, James Blackwell of Galesburg; his children, Brandy Jackson and Robert
Jackson, Jr. both of Galesburg, Robert Nathan Jackson of Burlington, Iowa, Shay
Dragoo, O’Brion Allen, Treanna Allen, Cierra Brahmstedt, and Joe Williams all
of Galesburg; three brothers, Rory Jackson (and Debbi), Robert (and Michelle)
Sargent of Wataga, and Anthony (and Helen) Sargent of St. Paul, Minnesota;
three sisters, Robyn Broadfield and Renita (and Mearon) Diggins, both of
Galesburg and Laura (and Jaswick) Dyett of Grimes, Iowa; seven grandchildren,
Martell Woods, Peyton Jackson, Makaylie McClaren, Hahlay, Deamiyn and Dearion
Elston and Jackson Smith, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and his
brother-in-law, Chuck Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his
sister, Madilyn Jackson.
Bobby worked at Beisser
Lumber in West Des Moines, Iowa for several years. He graduated from Galesburg
High School in 1985. It was that year Bobby was drafted out of high school to
play minor league baseball for the San Francisco Giants. He was later picked to
play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bobby was inducted in the Galesburg High
School Hall of Fame in 2011.
Funeral Services are
scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West
Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jerry Cato and Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate.
Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 am Saturday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to
Hinchliff-Pearson West Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
