Jean L. Smith, age 90, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 2:20 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois

She was born on March 15, 1925 in Maquon, Illinois the daughter of Walter and Gertrude Ann Nelson Slagel. She attended and graduated from London Mills High School in London Mills, Illinois. She married Loren W. Smith on November 14, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri.

Surviving are her children: John (Karen) Smith of Maquon, Illinois, Chuck (Jennifer) Smith of Gilson, Illinois, Tony (Amber) Smith of Knoxville, Illinois, Andy Smith formerly of Knoxville, Illinois, and Kimberly (Pat) Hennenfent of Wataga, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steeven Smith, three sisters and two brothers.

She was a homemaker and a CNA for the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois for 21 years retiring in 1986.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on July 20 2015 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Pastor Joe Kost will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois.
