Raymond "Clyde" Seitz, age 85, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at Genesis East Campus in Davenport, Iowa on July 14, 2015 at 4:15 pm. Clyde was born on September 3, 1929 in Carman, Illinois and he is the son of Jake and Florence Mason Seitz. He was raised in Biggsville, Illinois where he attended the local schools and graduated from Biggsville High School. Clyde married Gladys L. Freeman on December 23, 1957 in Keithsburg, IL and she is surviving. Clyde was employed 38 years at Chittenden and Eastman Company in Burlington, IA and retired in 1992. He has been a member and president of the Oquawka Senior Citizens group and actively assisted a number of Seniors with their daily activities. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their ball games. Clyde is an avid Cubs and avid Illini Fan.
Surviving is his wife, Gladys of Oquawka, Illinois and two daughters, Luanne (Luke) Rice of Wataga, Il and Christie (Jake) Stewart of Oquawka, Illinois. He has two grandchildren Amber (Luke) Taeger and Justin Stewart and one great grandchild Jack Taeger. A nephew raised with Clyde is Melvin Seitz of Oquawka, IL also survives. A number of other relatives also survive. He is preceded in his death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. His family plans to receive friends at Turnbulls from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service Saturday. A memorial fund is established for the Oquawka Volunteer Fire Department in Oquawka, Illinois.
