Paul was born February 28, 1943 in Elmore, Illinois, the son of Paul W. and Vallah Ingle Filson. He married Patricia A. West on March 7, 1961 in Galesburg, Illinois.Surviving is his wife, Patricia; a son, Phillip R. Filson of Laura, Illinois; a daughter, Peggy (Mark) Campbell of Elmwood, Illinois; five grandchildren, Brandi (Tim) Daugherty, Joshua (Anna) Filson, Amanda (Alex) Yerkey, Curtis Campbell, and Kimberly Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Eric and Alyson Daugherty, Cameron Yerkey and Wyatt Filson; two sisters; and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Paul E. Filson, two brothers, and one sister.
Paul retired from being a mechanic at the Knox County Highway Department for 30 years he also farmed.
He was a member of Little John Conservation Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Jennifer Seder will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Interment will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery, Williamsfield, Illinois. Memorial donations may be left to a charity of the donor’s choice.
